Mumbai; Throw away the MoU of Adani development project for the Dharavi workers!

The Trade Union Centre of India (TUCI)CCC strongly opposes the BJP government’s move to evict workers in the name of redevelopment of Dharavi in Mumbai, Asia’s largest slum and demands immediate cancellation of the Rs 23,000-crore contract agreement (MoU) with the Adani Group of Companies. The dharavi redevelopment project was notified when Uddhav Thackeray of the Shiv Sena , who is now shouting ‘save Dharavi’, was the chief minister.
The Shiv Sena’s contention is that Modi should take the Maha Aghadi parties into confidence while selling 259 acres of slum dwellers life Land in Dharavi to the Adani Group. There is no difference between the BJP and Shiv Sena’s stand on the looting of corporate companies in the name of development.
Therefore, the TUCI Central Coordination Committee appeals to the workers organisations, the real Left parties, organisations who are working for the welfare of the slum dwellers to take up a joint struggle to “kick out Adani, save Dharavi and grow Dharavi”.
More than a 1000000(1 million) factory contract workers, construction , head loading, domestic , housekeeping, autorickshaw, vehicle drivers, automobile , hotel-shop keeping workers and cottage industries live in the “homeland” of Mumbai.Dharavi’s annual economic contribution stands at more than Rs 100 crore. The corporate is eyeing land (Heart Of Mumbai)worth in lacks crores of rupees. Adani intends to build a HUDCO-style multi-storey house for slum dwellers on 170 acres and sell the remaining 189 acres to a global apartment. Therefore, the Adani company and the chowkidar have to fight to get rid of this predatory plan of the Prime Minister and demand the creation of a separate Dharavi Development Authority of the government building special colony with Houses for all slum dwellers.
