The Central Committee of the Trade Union Center of India (TUCI) has expressed its full support to the indefinite strike by thousands of state community health workers in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
TUCI demands that the Uttar Pradesh state government should immediately recognize the legal Struggle being waged by the CHOs, putting forward their key demands of equal pay for equal work, mandatory payment of incentive bonus and payment of the 5% annual salary increment withheld by the department.
Because, contract workers are not second class citizens . It is the constitutional right of every citizen and employee of this country to raise voice against injustice. 90% of labor laws are not being followed in the state health and family welfare department, especially in the National Health Mission. What is wrong in starting a strike against this injustice? The TUC strongly condemns the action of the Managing Director of the State Health Department who is threatening to issue notices of dismissal to the agitating employees without respecting this right. The Aadithya Nath Yogi government has been urged to fulfill the legal demands of the workers as soon as possible.
