Due to the persistent efforts and advocacy of the Tungabhadra Irrigation Zonal Workers Union (TUCI), the Karnataka Irrigation Corporation has granted permission for 748 workers who have been working seasonally for the past 25 years to be employed year-round. The government has now made the decision to employ each of these individuals throughout the season and during the off-season.
in the general body meeting of workers held today at the irrigation office premises of Manvi town, the president of union R. Manasayya welcomed the government’s decision and moved a congratulatory resolution. Raichur Koppal District In-charge Minister, Minor Irrigation Minister, thanked the MLAs of Raichur rural and urban areas for their cooperation and department officials on behalf of the union. A resolution was accepted in the meeting demanding that the officials and contractors should follow the labor laws compulsorily along with monthly salary.
Trade Union Center of India State Vice President M Gangadhar, District Committee Member Aziz Jagirdar, M Niranjan participated in this general meeting as special invitees.
Union leaders and representatives of Yaramarus, Sindhanur and Siriwara divisions and workers from 12 sub-divisions participated. At the beginning of the meeting G Adavirao, general secretary of the Tungabhadra Irrigation Zonal Workers Union TUCI, welcomed and presented the agenda of the meeting.
