Unwavering Solidarity with Odisha’s Contract Health Workers

by admin

The draconian measures employed by the Odisha state government to silence the voices of over 17,000 contract nursing staff, who have been tirelessly serving the state since 2013, will not be tolerated. The Odisha Nursing Employees Association’s demands for wage revision, grading promotions, and social security benefits are fundamental rights that have been systematically denied to them.

Despite completing six years of service, these dedicated healthcare workers remain bereft of job security, perpetuating the exploitative contract labor system. The government’s refusal to implement existing labor laws is a stark reminder of its anti-worker agenda.

In response to the state government’s draconian Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) imposition, aimed at suppressing the movement, the Trade Union Centre of India (TUCI) central committee stands firmly in support of the striking workers. We condemn this blatant attempt to muzzle the voices of dissent and appeal to all working-class organizations to unite against the contract labor system, privatization, and neoliberal policies.

Immediate Wage Revision : Fair wage Inreament and compensation for healthcare workers, reflecting their dedication and expertise.
Job Regularization_: Security of tenure for contract staff who have completed six years of service.
Social Security Benefits_: Comprehensive protections for healthcare workers, ensuring their well-being and dignity.

Withdrawal of ESMA_: Repeal the draconian act that undermines democratic rights to protest.

We call upon all progressive forces to join hands in solidarity with Odisha’s contract health workers. Together, we shall resist the onslaught of neoliberal policies and fight for the rights of the working class.

Long Live the Struggle of the Working Class!
