TUCI strongly condemn the arrest of strike leaders Comrades Shankar and Pramila

Today, as part of the All India Workers’ Strike, the Orissa State Secretary of CPI(ML) Red Star Comrade Pramila and the Orissa State Secretary of Trade Union Centre of India, Comrade Shankar, and 17 other workers were arrested by the Orissa Police. The Central Committee of Trade Union Centre of India strongly condemns this arrest. It is hereby demanded that they be released immediately and unconditionally.
The central BJP government and the BJP state government, which have not yet been expelled, are going to implement the anti-worker, pro-corporate capitalist laws on the working class.
They will continue their fascist rule to take away all the rights of the workers. The struggle of the working class cannot be stopped through force and arrests. Repression and oppression cannot prevent working class movement.
Therefore, TUCI has requested all trade unions and pro-democratic forces to unite and fight against the BJP government at the Centre and in the state of Orissa.
